32 weeks and 2 days...

yup yup yup... that's what they say huh? :)

um... what's new you ask? Not much... let's see...

I am enormous. Other than that, everything is more or less normal...

We're still wrapping up our work on the nursery - it's not ready for anyone to see yet, but it's coming soon. We purchased the furniture and bedding this weekend, ''check!''. I promise to post photos of the room when it's all done, no worries:)

I have officially announced my decisions regarding birth to my midwifes at my last appointment. They seemed really happy with my choices and they were really encouraging, telling me these were very good choices and that they would support me 100% - phew!

So, if everything continues to go well and there are no complications, I will give birth in the water, in the comfort of my own home, using the 'Hypnobirthing' method. S and I have already done 2 of the 5 training sessions and I am really really happy to have found a way to 'proceed' that works 100% for ME (and S). I've always been a bit 'anti-hospital' and 'anti-doctors' (I am more in favor of trusting that my body is designed to function well if I take care of it...) so I am relieved to know that I will be surounded by a competent team of people who will be there should there be a need for them, but who will also respect my choice of letting me do things my way without interventions or 'coaching'. So yeah, that's my plan.

Other than that, pregnancy-wise I feel really normal, at this point I almost feel oblivious to the fact that I am pregant, it has kind of become somewhat of a routine thing - oh right, I'm pregnant... oh well! I work and come home and repeat... I am really looking forward to my last day of work though - on August 27th. I have tons of things to do before that day comes, but it still couldn't come fast enough. It's pretty 'blah' and 'depressing' at work right now so the big change that's coming is quite welcome!

For the person in my belly...

I got a very sweet gift in the mail late last week.  My mom sent adorable clothes and a teddy bear for the baby that's coming.

I recognized my mom's style right away when I saw the creative wrapping that she must have put together herself (am I right mom? You drew and cut out the pretty flower and put it on top of the box?)

I also recognized a family tradition: recycling old boxes to wrap up gifts, hee hee

no, it's not popcorn ;)

Look at how cute this is!!!

Thank you guys for the lovely gifts :)

The Pride Run 5km Race

It was the Pride Run 5k race this weekend, the very first race I ever ran. Marie the Mouse had convinced me to participate - I was ready for the challenge and this was the perfect race for a beginner: easy and fun, and they give you cake at the end...

I had so much fun last year that I thought - I simply must repeat it in 2010! I also really wanted to do the full race this time (I made a mistake last year, details here)

Unfortunately - life happened and I was unable to run the race this year - my solution? Have S run it! :)

So we drove all the way to downtown Toronto on this very warm summer day that was this past Saturday - man is it hot out these days, especially when you carry around your own little heater on your belly :)

S was ready for the challenge - here he is all concentrated pre-race...

The only 5k that S ran was the Zoo Run last October (here) He ran the race in 27:30 (estimated since that race wasn't 'chipped'...) and man was I impressed with how quick he was! The Pride Run is a chipped race, so for the first time, S would get an official 5k time. I couldn't wait to find out what it was!!

Another first: this time I was going to be a spectator! Once the runners were on the course, I got to see the organizers prep everything for the finishers, the photographers prepare to take shots of the elite runners, all that while taking in the ambiance and the music. Time went real fast and in about 15 minutes the first runners were coming in. It was so much fun to cheer them on - woo hoo! yeah! It's impressive to see all these runners with all the concentration and determination in their eyes. A little over 26 minutes had past when I noticed that S was right there approaching the finish line! WOW!!! It was terribly warm and he hadn't run in a while (other than on a soccer pitch...) and he was already almost done in 26+ minutes? I was so proud of him!

S's official results:
He was the 345th person to cross the finish line out of 791 participants.
Gun Time: 26:56
Chip Time: 26:04!!!!!!!!!!!
He was the 259/413 man
And in his category he was 196/318

WOW!

Here he is at the finish line (he's wearing a red shirt, top left corner of the image...)

A little later, we had the pleasure to meet with Marie the Mouse when she crossed the finish line! It was mission accomplished for her as well - I believe she met the goal she had set for herself for the race. We enjoyed seeing her - it was funny how S yelled 'Mousearoo!' when he saw her - he too was excited to get to congratulate her :)

It was a nice day :)

28 weeks and 6 days...

Less than 12 weeks to go... wow. Things feel like they are going pretty fast, but slow at the same time - well, things tend to feel slow when you have a ginormous belly :)

I got my glucose test results - all good! Phew! However, they tested my - whatever they call the test that sees if you have anemia -  and they said that my levels were a little low... Nothing too dramatic but they suggested that I take a 'once a day' iron supplement to balance things out... pfff it's just another pill to take, I can handle that...

We bought our very first baby 'item' this week - I was cleaning up our babies r us registry in the hopes of putting it out there for friends and family to see (for now it includes everything that we need for the baby - lots of the stuff that needs to come out is stuff we plan to purchase ourselves... it would be a bit awkward to receive a breast pump from a colleague, for instance hee hee) when I noticed that one of the item was much cheaper than I remembered - it was indeed on sale - 100$ off on the travel system we had picked, and the sale was ending that same day! Quick emails were exchanged between S and I and that was it - we decided to order it! Score! :)

It's the Alano Flip It Travel System de Graco. We picked it because there were a lot of good reviews but mostly because it seemed to be the only travel system that had a 'flipable' stroller handle (where the baby can either face you or face away from you) It also seemed pretty compact and light and easy to collapse. And it was conforming to all the new security standards out there...

It was delivered in a record time - I think we ordered it and got it delivered within 2 days! I'm looking forward to testing it out but for now we're keeping it in it's box - we have no room for it yet!

This weekend we should be able to finish our big baby room reno - I will certainly share some pictures with you when it's done :)
